It's a well known fact that a big room full of people with desk calculators do corporate accounting much more cheaply than a computer and the associated personnel. As a matter of fact messengers are cheaper than fax machines, email etc. This whole increased productivity via new technology is a myth. Look at the damage caused by gasoline engines! Horse power in the original sense remains the ideal. We get solar energy to make grass and the horse converts the grass to useful work. A whole bunch of technology parasites have emerged, and their interest is to conceal these basic facts. Only a few wise people, like the economists of Dresdner Bank have not been fooled.
