Although neither Athlon MP nor Itanic are typical candidates for Pricewatch, it is interesting that a query on "Athlon MP" results in 99 hits while a query on Itanium results in 1 hit. Something's a NO-GO all right, but it doesn't appear to be Athlon MP, the market failure is clearly Itanium. Now that the proven Sun SPARC platform offers 900MHZ 64-bit processors on platforms using software with years of demonstrated reliability and effectiveness, there just isn't much point in an untried, untested, 800MHZ 64-bit Itanic with no known-reliable platform and nothing but beta software available for it, is there?
