Sarmad: You know more about disk drives than I do as an investor anyway -- but for EMC, I thought their space was getting more crowded rather than less -- with all the big computer companies looking for a piece of the action, and with new companies and new technologies like what NTAP is offering etc. -- is this not the case?? I thought the heyday of EMC is now past and their future is quite uncertain -- am I wrong?

sarmad, picking up one's marbles and leaving an entire business segment is not a decision made lightly. typically (read always with a blue moon exception) ALL market participants suffer from scorched earth policies BEFORE the weeding out occurs.

ps - i read somewhere that pc UNIT shipments look to decline for the first time ever this year... a risk i pointed out many months ago.
