Re: the issue may not be as serious as we had initially thought

Tony, the stats quoted were impressive numbers for raw boards, many sent out to do-it-yourselfers to be assembled by first-timers. Those are such good numbers I find them suspicious. They had 4 serious problems in 500 boards and said that of the problems many were due to buyers setting the jumpers wrong.

I would expect shipping damage to account for more than 4 out of 500. A variety of cases is now available, but wasn't when the first few hundred of those boards shipped. There is no question that some of those boards were jammed into unsuitable cases.

Those stats are better than typically seen with Intel platforms that have been out for a while, new platforms are never this good.

If you guys are looking to criticize AMDs SMP servers, find a different issue. 4 serious problems out of 500 boards shipped by an online retailer is a fabulous reliability record. Repeatedly beating this particular drum just makes AMD look great, certainly better than Intel.
