Oracle [NASDAQ:ORCL] has announced that Pacific Convergence Corp. (PCC) has implemented its financial and logistics software to support an Internet service as a content and e-commerce provider in Asia. PCC is a subsidiary of Pacific Century CyberWorks, and will operate a regional service that provides online content via a broadband platform. Implementation of the Oracle system is underway and set to be completed in three months. The suite of modules is designed to support PCCs business needs and includes general ledger, account payables, account receivables, cash management, purchasing and fixed assets. The module-based application offers a risk-mitigated approach, and can be accessed by an Internet browser. PCC is a leading example of how companies in Asia are fast embracing the global shift to an Internet economy and building their enterprise systems accordingly, explained PW Pong, regional managing director of Oracle, Greater China. Along with the financial software, PCC has purchased Oracle's Discoverer ad-hoc query, an analysis tool. Discoverer will provide system users at all levels of the organization with immediate access to information and a means of reporting relevant to their business needs.
