I think wives were allowed by the Catholic church for priests in hot climates, the temptation of the flesh being so much greater in lands with so much exposed flesh.

Joe, I have never heard of this idea before. Are you sure about this? I know non-Catholic Christian missionaries might very well have wives. I also know that Eastern Right catholics priests (but not bishops) can have wives. Also there are Catholic priests who married when they where members of other Christian sects that have since combined with the Roman Catholic Church and they are now married priests, but other then that (and early priests before marriage for priests was banned and those who violated the ban) I can't think of any examples of married priests.
