I doubt anyone is giving a parade to celebrate.

Why would anyone give or want a parade to celebrate what is a very personal matter?

You might be surprised at how comparatively innocent things are in suburbia, compared, that is, to when I was about his age. I volunteer over at the school for various things, including occasional overnight trips. There is some pairing off, but not as much as when I was a kid, and public displays are far fewer (no necking in the back of the bus). Nor does there appear to be the degree of peer pressure that was normal in the late 60s and early 70s. I don't care if he gets a parade, as long as he is not hassled. Where I live, he has not been made to feel embarrassed that he does not have his driver's license yet (he is going to be a senior in a month). It turns out that it is not so terribly unusual for people to wait awhile, at least........
