Re: Oooooh, Appro, oh no, not Appro, going AMD. That's it. You're right. Intel is dead in servers.

Actually, it's a nice company. It may not rock Intel's world to have them offering AMD SMP high density servers, but this is a pretty significant milestone for AMD.

APPRO custom designs, engineers, manufactures, and integrates solutions for a broad range of high-density server platform users engaged primarily in the Networking, Computer Telephony, Broadcasting, and ISP industries. APPRO's OEM and VAR customers and partners represent a cross section of the industries, such as Cisco Systems, Clarent Corporation, Mirapoint, Seachange, Avnet, Marconi, Pinnacle Systems, Alliance Systems, and Zambeel.

APPRO International, Inc. designs, engineers and manufacturers custom, high-density server solutions. Total company sales in 2000 were $64 million. The company has experienced a decade of profitable success by providing custom server solutions to OEMs, System Integrators, VARS, and corporations within the storage, firewall, load balancing, video streaming, telephony, broadband, and High Performance Computing (HPC) markets. All APPRO custom, high-density servers are value-priced. As one of the first successful designers and manufacturers of custom, high-density servers, APPRO has created significant competitive advantages including a reputation for quick development of turn-key solutions; onsite design, engineering, manufacturing and EMI testing; design flexibility, customization, and configuration; and complete ISO 9001 certification. In 1999, 2000, and again in 2001, APPRO was awarded "Best of Show" at CT Expo.

The need to pack as much computing power into as small a space as possible without creating heat dissipation or power problems is a key requirement for data center and enterprise IT managers. APPRO high-density servers can be vertically stacked in a rack creating maximum processing power density within a small space thus mimicking the capability of one large multiprocessor server at a much lower cost. The company's decade long experience in the high-density server market and its ability to respond quickly to evolving customer requirements, has led to the introduction of several innovative APPRO server solutions including the 1U, 2U, and most recently, the APPRO 1124 Dual AMD Athlon 1U Server for High Performance Computing.
