From the moment Gore conceded, the left wing media had the Bush administration rendered ineffective due to "no mandate". He then went out and got several agenda items through, including one large one: the tax cut.

Then the Jeffords defection allowed the left wing media to render him ineffective again, due to "disaffecting the moderates". So he proceeded to get the left to defeat their own Campaign Finance "Reform" (who was that Arizona Senator who the media thought was going to exert so much influence?), turned the Trial Lawyers Bill of Rights back (partially) into a reform of HMO's, and assembled labor support to get the House to approve Arctic oil drilling.

I look forward with relish to the left wing media writing off the Bush team frequently for the next 7 1/2 years. The nation could use the improvement, after 8 poisonous year of William the Bastard...

Perhaps the most profound public statement by a president since Reagan (who made them frequently) is Bush's "Power increases with it's use.", though a more correct statement would be "influence increases with it's use", since presidents exercise the later far more than the former.

But the bottom line is certainly true: Bush, by being a shrewd and effective leader, gets far more influential with each passing month. By November, 2004, there won't be a Democrat alive who isn't overtly scared shitless by GWB...

The Republicans haven't attempted to dominate any more then the Democrats have. If they have dominated to any extent (and that extent is real small if it exists at all) it is because they were more sucessfull. Its not some vast evil plot and its not something the Democrats (or the Libertarians, the Greens, the communists, or the Right to Life Party) wouldn't do if they had the chance.

Bush hasn't been dictorial in his tone at all. He's just trying to follow through on his campaign themes and promises. You hate that he is actually trying to move the government in a more conservative direction because you don't like conservative policies but there is nothing dictatorial about it.

As for war against consumers and the environment that charge has little to do with reality.

Tim
