"Hanoi was off limits until Nixon took office. " Wrong.....LBJ ordered Hanoi and Haiphong oil installations bombed June, 1966. North Vietnam was already being bombed in 1965. Johnson suspended it for awhile and then resumed in Jan. 1966. The power plants of Hanoi were bombed in Jan. 1967. Note that all of this took place before Nixon was elected. "the History channel that said Ho Chi Mihn originally wanted Vietnam to become a territory of the U.S like Guam but was rebuffed. " This one you're going to have to show some evidence of....Ho Chi Mihn who fought the French for about 20 years and the USA for about 10 wanted to become a territory of the US??? WOW! That would have made headlines.... I certainly would never have thunk it and I would ask you to provide a link, a super market tabloid, anything, to support that....
