All commodities are priced in US dollars & will increase in price if it drops.

It is the possibility of a weakening dollar that is drawing me to look at gold and gold stocks.

Dollar weakening would probably make so many of those banks with large reserves re-think their strategy. The US dollar was as good as gold but there may be some doubters nowadays.
It could once again become a good way to protect wealth.
All that may be needed is just a slight uptick in demand from this type of activity.

Relatively weak dollar means gold gets cheaper in local currencies(especially where there is high demand for it), and that drives demand up as well as price in US dollars.

btw--thanks to all who responded to my gold questions; still learning; not totally sold on it yet but enough to take a small position in gold stocks and look to increase it a bit.
