The following positions are currently available at Axiom:



Staff Scientist, Ph.D. Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry or related field


To identify patterns of expression of pharmaceutically important targets in cells and to develop and
validate cellular assays for drug discovery. The following expertise will be considered to be essential:
(a) mammalian vector construction, (b) RT-PCR analysis, (c) mammalian cell transfections, and (d)
development of enzymatic assays. The following expertise will be considered to be an advantage: (a)
working knowledge of mammalian signaling pathways, (b) practical experience with cellular cAMP
assays, (b) practical knowledge of enzyme biochemistry, (c) experience with screening compound
libraries and design of enzyme inhibitors, and (d) an ability to perform molecular modeling and to
extract and analyze biological data from databases. Must be a highly motivated self-starter with
excellent communication skills, able to pursue multiple projects simultaneously.

Bioinformatics & Database Development Specialist, Ph.D. in Biology, Chemistry or a
related field


You will develop and integrate various Axiom's database platforms into ActivityBase, a standard
drug discovery database platform, develop customized tools for Axiom's bioinformatics efforts,
maintain the company's website and develop database applications for web access. The following
expertise will be considered to be essential: (a) 1-2 years of experience in SQL programming in an
Oracle environment, (b) practical knowledge in one or more areas of pre-clinical drug discovery
such as genomics, medicinal chemistry, assay development and pharmacology, and (c) interest and
ability to design customized applications for accessing, processing and using biologically relevant data
in drug discovery. The following expertise will be considered to be an advantage: (a) practical
experience with ActivityBase or similar drug discovery database applications, (b) knowledge of
HTML programming and website administration, (c) general intellectual interest in drug discovery
and bioinformatics. Must have excellent communication skills.
