You might well be right. I don't know. I do know, though, that a lot will change between now and 2004. For instance, I've noticed the phrase "worldwide recession" appearing in some of the London e-newspapers recently. GWB had better start paying a little more attention to the economy and a little less to "Star Wars" and faith-based initiatives. Lest we forget, James Carville had it right when he advised Bill Clinton in '92 to run on the phrase: "It's the economy, stupid."

Or to put it another way, if Joe Worker's 401(k) in 2004 is only 10 percent above what it was in '00, whoever runs against Bush is gonna get a lot of votes that went to Boy George in '00 because of the Clinton backlash factor.
