I doubt you were paying any attention. The victorious N. Vietnamese turned on Cambodia and overran it. The Thais were still closely allied to the US, so they left that alone. And, of course, China invaded N. Vietnam in 1978. They didn't push for much territory. It was just their way of saying, "This Soviet client-state BS no longer amuses us." Hanoi took the elephant seriously, as they always do. That, of course, was Nixon's vision.
