Are you asking about an orchid or a rose?

If it is a question about an orchid, then the answer is no..."normal" for orchids. Probably if it is an orchid where you're seeing this, then it is most likely a Cattleya orchid or a Cymbidium. Since most Cymbidiums usually bloom in the Fall (they need lots of light, and a variation in night and day temperatures to start their flower spiking), then my guess would be you have a Cattleya orchid?

A good web site to answer some basic orchid questions, just FYI.
