As a side comment on ASYT, I was looking at short interest today via the WSJ and was surprised to see ASYT at #29 on the largest percentage gain from June to July (3,081,079 from 1,310,278--> 135.1% increase).

I looked them up on the ViWes, which ranked them at #18 on percentage increase (for positions over 1M) at a 12 month high: viwes.com

Don't remember Asyst being so popular.

BTW, does anyone know of a site that sorts/screen/compares stocks for percentage short (i.e. # of outstanding shares sold short)? Yahoo has the data, but do not allow it in their screening variables. I think a list of the Top 100 stocks by percentage short would be very interesting. For instance, did you know at 30% of Krispy Kreme's shares are short (and that's a decrease from last month)? That explains the price action quite a bit.

So, was he fired? Anybody have more info?

>>Asyst Technologies Announces Douglas McCutcheon, CFO, to Resign
biz.yahoo.com

The article says that he "plans to pursue other business opportunities in the San Franscisco Bay area." That appears to mean that he isn't jumping to another company.

I have developed a rule of thumb that when a CFO leaves, especially with a vague "pursue other business opportunities" explanation that there may be some bad financial news brewing that he/she is going to get blamed for. That hasn't been true in all cases, but it seems to have been true in a number of them.

I am neither long or short Asyst, but have been considering it.
