freep, i'm also talking about financial reporters who write articles stating that amazon will make a "profit," not just company press releases. lies? few are that dumb. withholding truth or somehow changing it (what is profit, anyway? is it gaap? is it pro forma? does it mean anything? what is the meaning of "is?") is the current mo and quite legal. since caveat emptor has been all but unknown for many years, this approach has worked quite well. another example is the bastardizing of the productivity measurement. nobody ever talks about it and i don't think i've seen one main stream article on it. sinc eit doubles reported productivity (the basis for the "new economy"), i would think it was important. what the heck, don't lie, just change it and don't publicize it.
