What mindset are you referring to? Keep in mind the southern part of this state has been overrun by what were originally illegal immigrants. And since this sort of thing is under federal control and since the Dems LOVE these people (think Slick), the state has simply has to tolerate it. I suspect part of the reason TX hasn't had this problem to the same extent is that it did not have quite the BOOM that CA ha in the '90s. This state was an internationally known economic magnet. We also imported large numbers of Asians but 1) they mostly had to come by legal means, and 2) they arrived here with much better educations and presented many fewer problems.
