A truly cutting riposte. However, this time around I was less advocating the goodness of suspension (granted, there was some of that there, but it was not the primary focus) than I was the importance of actually having truthful reasons for things that you assert.

You, Cory, and possibly Tony (apologies if I am blindly schlumping Tony onto this list while he is not involved, but his name is sticking out) have repeatedly complained about the moderation of this thread being against Intel advocates. However, the moderator and several others claim that the moderation punishes actions independent of a person's position with respect to Intel and AMD.

You have continued to state as a fact that the moderative actions are anti-Intel-investor, even as people like Win Smith and Bill Jackson -- both AMD advocates -- have been suspended. The only people on the Intel side who have been suspended have shown the peculiar characteristic of going incredibly overboard with respect to insulting and/or goading others. While there is evidence to support the idea that more Intel advocates than AMD advocates have been suspended from this board, there is even more evidence to support the idea that the vast majority of the people suspended from this board were, in the periods preceding the suspension, very abusive of the thread or the thread's published rules.

Even though there is evidence to support both factions, you have spouted off insults to most of the posters here, saying that "insults is really what this thread is about". I know that most of the people in this thread are not interested in insulting others. It is really only a minority like Paul Engel and Win Smith, or knee-jerk responders to such folk who go around insulting people frequently. Yet you feel happy to insult me and countless other people on a simple assumption, a likely incorrect generalization based on the actions of a few.

Back on the subject of the suspending: There are plenty of people who have, as you call it, dissenting opinions. All but a small handful of them are very strongly welcome to this thread. The people who we want to leave happen to be those who are abusive. They don't have to be abusive dissenters. Anybody who is abusively abusive. If you're an abusive dissenter, go away. If you're an abusive assenter, go away. No, I know your perspective on how ignoring is a better idea, but think about this: I know that you are an intelligent person. The phenomenal majority of your posts have been a joy to read for me. I like seeing your words on my screen. But every once in a while -- actually, fairly frequently now -- you post an insult directed at people like me. You send me an insult. I really, really wish that there were a way that I could put you on "meta-ignore", in which I'd only see your adult posts and not your child posts (of which, again, thankfully, you do not make many). But I can't do that. If you have an interesting alternative that will allow me to see intelligent conversation here without viewing the insults (which come from BOTH assenters and dissenters!), then I would be grateful to hear it. :)
