Drinkers Have a Smashing Time at Pub; Wednesday August 8 10:30 AM ET BANGKOK (Reuters) - A bar in Thailand's capital has come up with a novel way of helping drinkers relieve stress -- when they've finished their glass, they can smash it. ``Smashing glasses is something so good that people can't stop it,'' said Sanjog Modgil, food and beverage manager at the Amari Atrium Hotel where Mingles pub is located. ``There are many bars in Thailand. We were trying to get a niche.'' A Mingles bartender said drinkers used the glass smashing to relieve tension. ``During the smashing, some of them say 'this one is for my wife and this one is for my boss','' the bartender said. As many as 350 glasses are broken on weekend evenings as drinkers throw them into a designated area. Sanjog says the mayhem is not dangerous as ``the crowd is disciplined.'' ``A lot of people are stressed out in Bangkok with traffic and stuff like that, so when you smash your glass, you hear something break, you say 'Yes!'. You need some kind of stress relieved,'' he said. The bar manager said he has a special deal with a local glass supplier.
