Jim,

Some might say that Intel invented and evolved the market. But that would be a compliment rather than an insult. And insults is really what this thread is about.

RE: "Kind of seems odd that someone would feel insulted because someone made a statement, certainly not an insult, about a company they owned stock in."

I wasn't insulted. I was pointing out that you were insulting Intel the company. Others on this thread choose to insult the executives at Intel, accusing them of lying and cheating in their financial reporting, and using illegal tactics in their business dealings.

The thread has a selectively ineffective ban on insults between individual posters, but the companies and their executives seem to be fair game. Polite goes out the window, and the deeper the insult the more it is hailed as insightful.

Now you can argue that it's not in the bylaws that posters have to refrain from insulting non-posting executives at the companies. But to me it seems hypocritical. If the goal is a really civil exchange of ideas, then the posters might try to show some respect for the companies discussed. That might also lead to more polite and reasoned responses.

Anyway, that's what I meant when I said "And insults is really what this thread is about". It's usually as much about denigrating Intel than it is about evaluating AMD.
