The situation is actually the opposite in NYC. Violent Crimes have gone down dramatically over the past 8 years here. The police force has increased dramatically too. Prospective applicants need a college education if they want to be hired as a police officer. In short, you gotta have some book smarts and communication skills now if you want to become a NYC cop. NYC is not the Wild Wild West. Moreover, stricter gun control laws have gone into effect here over the past 8 years, which has helped reduce violent crimes.

So, the cup of life is half full here and it even over flows sometimes.
