Thanks Tito. RE: "Sorry I don't read Paid Analysts views because I'm familiar with how they operate to further their causes."

I think most of us here understand where the analysts are coming from. Regardless of possible conflicts of interest or past forecasting accuracy, I continue to read their views. Their reports may include tidbits of information that are not readily available elsewhere and their commentary often impacts short-term trading (of particular interest to me).

I wonder what the semi sector charts for the past few days would have looked like if Merril Lynch had not made their bullish call and CSFB had not made their bearish call. We just might be exactly where we are today anyway, but I suspect the road to this point would have been different (and I would probably have a few less grey hairs!). It's interesting to consider just how much impact these reports have had on stock prices recently.

Perhaps factors such as low volume and investor uncertainty, coupled with the masses desperately looking for confirmation of a bottom have enhanced the effect of these analyst opinions.

In any case, TA is challenging right now. We broke through a host of resistance points with the recent run (since 7/24, 100+ points on the SOX alone before quickly giving 40% of the gain right back). It was looking like we were beginning a move much higher over the short-term, but that possibility appears to have been nixed thanks in part to CSFB. I have to wonder where we would have closed today if CSFB had come out with a bullish call instead of a bearish one.
