Zi and Condat partner to offer integrated solution

Calgary, AB (August 8, 2001) - Zi Corporation (NASDAQ: ZICA) (TSE: ZIC) and
Condat AG have signed a marketing agreement to support eZiText(tm), the text
input solution from Zi Corporation. Condat, a leading supplier of protocol
stacks for mobile devices, will promote eZiText(tm) to their worldwide
customer base. Under the global marketing agreement, Condat can offer
eZiText(tm) as a part of their protocol stacks for GSM, GPRS, UMTS, Basic
Man-Machine Interface and Man Machine Interface Framework.

"Devices with predictive text input can now be brought to market in a matter
of months," says Russell McHugh, general manager, Europe, Zi Corporation.
"eZiText(tm) can be quickly integrated with Condat's protocol stacks to
shorten manufacturers' time-to-market."

Condat holds a special market position as one of the major independent
suppliers of GSM protocol stacks. Protocol stacks manage the logistics
between a wireless device and the network and are a required software
component for wireless communication devices.

"Zi's expertise in multilingual text input, including Chinese input adds
value to our overall offering," said Manfred Menne, board member responsible
for wireless products at Condat. "The architecture of our protocol stacks
allows an easy integration of third party products so that products like
eZiText(tm) can be integrated with minimal effort, providing our customers
with a superior solution that can be implemented quickly."
