09:10 ET Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 17.08: Sun and Hitachi announce a long-rumored global alliance under which Sun will be a distributor for high-end Hitachi Data Systems products, Sun and Hitachi will cross-license and distribute each others' storage software, both will collaborate on storage software. This alliance is expected to compete with EMC (EMC 19.58).

08:57 ET DRAM Cuts : Bloomberg reporting that Toshiba will cut DRAM production to 20 mln units per month from 27 mln beginning in Sept; Bear Stearns' Ripple Effect says that this would be roughly 1.5% of global supply over a year, and won't impact the supply side much this year, but will help the supply adjustment on a long-term basis.
