Could be, but I'd submit that the evaporation wasn't due to operations, rather it was probably a reduction in the value of their short and long term investments. I mean many of us have experienced that ourselves, so I'm sure Cisco wasn't immune either. If we can say that the stock market has stabilized or bottomed, then we can also say that Cisco's ST and LT investments have also stabilized and will trend upwards as cash inflows are allowed to accumulate. The changes in current assets and liabilities does puzzle and alarm me, though. I'll have to take a hard look at that when we get the numbers. It may be time to lighten the Cisco load on my investments. Fidelity Freedom, Puritan, and my other funds are beckoning to be added to. :) My brokerage account would be a good source for those funds, since it has had an underwhelming performance over the last year.

I suspect that the main factor keeping it up is a low rate of reality diffusion

new consensus estimate for 02 is 17 cents after last night's call, down from 26 cents. putting the consensus PE on 02 earnings at 111.
