SAD NEWS........Maureen Reagan dies at 60 of cancer August 8, 2001 Posted: 2:56 PM EDT (1856 GMT) LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Maureen Reagan, daughter of former President Ronald Reagan, died Wednesday at her Sacramento, California, home after a battle with cancer. Reagan, 60, had been undergoing radiation treatments for a malignant melanoma that had spread to her brain. News of her death was followed by a written statement from former first lady Nancy Reagan. "Maureen Reagan has been a special part of my life since I met Ronnie over 50 years ago," said the statement. "Like all fathers and daughters there was a unique bond between them. Maureen had his gift of communication, his love of politics and when she believed in a cause, she was not afraid to fight hard for it."
