My guess is that during last year semi "shortage" many semi users made long term contracts for semi stuff. Also when OEMs sold plants to contract manufacturers they guaranteed certain amount of orders, also long term. That means that semi cos are still working out their backlogs and contract manufacturers keep making boxes. For GSPN, for instance, revenues for the second quarter of 2001 include customer order cancellation revenues of $15,391,000 biz.yahoo.com (25% of all revenue).
That's why IMO IT inventories are not shrinking as fast as they should.
