WOW, you guys are finally talking my language. Yes, Aluminum is very reactive. In fact by alloying it with other metals it is used as an anode to provide what is called "cathodic protection" to ferrous metals. It is used offshore in saltwater on oil platforms. I cannot imagine that this deal with Titanium has not been done before. When you put a + DC charge to a metal, the metal discharges oxygen, and/or chlorine depending on the electrolyte that you have the metal in. Normally in a corrosion process, you have water separate into Hydrogen and an hydroxyl ion (OH). The positively charged ions are attracted to the cathode, or the electrode that is attached to the -DC side of a DC power source. The negatively charged ions are attracted to the anode, or the electrode that is attached to the +DC side of a DC power source. The corrosion process is well known the the pipeline industry, and "cathodic protection" is the electrical way of mitigating corrosion on the pipe and tank systems. Titanium is used as a substrate for other oxide metals because you can not make it corrode. The same is true of Niobium. This could be a really big thing, but will take some time to complete the science. Because in this process you manufacture both hydrogen and oxygen, I have believed this will be the way to solve the energy problem. After all hydrogen and oxygen are what makes the space shuttle go to space. Oh, I forgot, that is all a hoax. GGG
