"What is the hottest temperature ever recorded in Hawaii and Alaska, and it's the same for both
states? "

Does the temperature of a volcano count? you didn't say air temperature. Both places have volcano's although I can't recall any in Alaska erupting in recent history..

In doing a quick check on Yahoo Weather of just the major cities in both places, it was amazing to find that Fairbanks actually had the hottest temp. recorded at 96. I think the highest Hawaiin temp I saw was 94-95.
Thanks for the cute exersize.....I will repeat the challenge to friends and family...
