If recent history is any clue, today was the day to buy.

You could be right.
The difference that we may be seeing between this market and what we saw in April/May is that if one misses this buying opportunity, there seems to be confidence among investors that they won't miss the boat. That is, it will come back. There seems to be no urgency.

I still believe XP launch will be a catalyst for the semiconductor and PC sector around September and we should start getting better news out of the semis first and that may act as a catalyst.
It is a question of whether investors will take a wait and see attitude (which could be trouble for this fragile market in the near term) or start buying in anticipation.

..or maybe we get right into a real recession especially if the Nasdaq keeps going down..the negative wealth effect could get even worse.

read the most recent biz week. the clues are there. telecom industry needs to be tweaked big time. BROADBAND FOR THE MASSES! Like I said more then year ago now, as CSCO does so does the market. or is that goes? where is Forest G. when you need him. <g>
