You would agree (on the basis of "...there is no shortage of energy. There is only a cost of energy...") that there is possibility of a shortage of affordable energy - cf CA and their power bills, so we dont use Sudan for instance for example. Also that affordability has something to do with rich and poor. Also that the cheapest alternative at the present moment ist not necessarily the best on the long run.

Re CO2 (nobody bothered to comment your call for more CO2 to feed the poor plants): You would also agree that CO2, as the result of our burning fossil fuels and biomass, is the single most important cause of global warming. So much for the cheapest alternative.
