news:

08:33 ET Sun Microsystems (SUNW) 17.25: Goldman Sachs analyst Laura Conigliaro is positive on yesterday's Sun/Hitachi deal, but says that business conditions remain difficult for Sun thus far in the summer quarter.

08:32 ET Economic Data : Jobless claims rose 33K to 385K in the August 4 week, consensus was 380K. This increase partially reverses the sharp declines of the prior three weeks, and highlights the risks of placing too much emphasis on any one week's claims number; no market impact.

08:16 ET Tyco Intl (TYC) 53.00: Merrill Lynch says that the beauty of TYC's diversified model is that Tycom (TCM) can guide lower without affecting the $3.45 estimate for TYC's FY02 EPS outlook; sees an offset for Tycom in Healthcare and Specialty, Fire and Security, and Financial units; price target is $100.
09:46 ET Nokia (NOK) 19.80 -0.30: -- Update -- Hearing from sources at Bear Stearns that the firm made comments about recent rumors of a NOK preannouncement: analyst reportedly said that company does not yet have enough visibility to preannounce, particularly since Jul and Aug are typically weak and Sep is the make or break month of the qtr; remains cautious on NOK but sees no possible preannouncement until company has visibility in Sep.

Dave kilty: They will have to be individually timed. Not all will prove profitable, that is just the percentages and where position (money) management comes in. Ride the winners and cut the non performers or losers.

And most importantly if I am wrong about a reversal, I will not be dogmatic about it. I trade what I perceive as high percentage plays per my analysis, some or high risk high reward plays and they don't always work out. However, more than enough do...

Now back to trying to catch some knives...its a little early yet...<g>

Note: If the NYA's 5/22 resistance line does not hold as support, (more than just a breach) I will delay. I am expecting support to come in for the COMPX at about 1945 and for the NYA at about the 601/2 level.

Regards,
LG
