Ian, that is definitely what happened on the last Fed call. Floor traders actually came out and said they were looking for a Fed call of 'bottom' and any discussion of that ilk being FAR more important than actual cut at qtr. or half, or indeed none at all. This time same holds true, in spades!

Nobody thinks they are done and with inflation non-existant lower real rates are called for. The real worry is that the market would perceive it as Japan redux. Personally I believe a 1/2 pointer here would ignite the markets.
Both dow and nasdaq down to intra day lows reached 2 weeks ago. If we ever needed a rally it is now. An interim cut today would help! Just musing here. Trying to ease the pain. mike
