The microchip glut
Aug 8th 2001
From The Economist Global Agenda
economist.com

This week there has been yet more gloom for struggling
manufacturers of microchips, and worse is probably on the
way. Not only does a recovery in demand seem a long way
off, but much of the industry’s massive overcapacity is
caused by government-backed national “champions” in Asia,
which show little sign of cutting back output

Still no signal. Stuck in neutral.
After a couple of years traders and investors will get discouraged, and valuations will erode to historic normal levels.

The dollar index has just made a lower low, which is not good for stocks methinks.
