Hi jla-- can't resist one last post! I KNEW I shouldn't read the thread again!!!

Did you not find the very specific prayer at Ammo's graduation offensive? I thought it excluded those of other faiths in a very rude way and at a ceremony that should have been carefully designed NOT to exclude any. It wouldn't have been a denial of the boy's own faith to ask him to keep Jesus' name out of it and merely employ the word God- which can happily fit into many religions, and which I think the moderate non-believer will accept. Of course, I'm not sure they even needed an invocation--- they had had Baccalaureate already for the religious-minded, but I don't think anyone objected to the prayer, merely the exclusive nature of it.
That's what raised it to the level of offensive in my view.
