The cost of executing someone exceeds the cost of housing them for life. There is no economic argument for the death penalty.

I used to think a statement like that was hogwash, but no more. I believe I read the cost to execute McVeigh was 18 million dollars. That is not a good example because it was such a high profile case, but we should be able to house someone for 30,000 per year and if they last 60 years that's only 1.8 million. Now if we also work them at hard labor which should be a stipulation, we could recoup alot of that amount. No, I am not joking about the hard labor.
