Seriously, though. I don't think we get 1/2 point for two reasons. First, AG and Co. have already signaled a slowdown in the rate changes with the 1/4 point last time out. Second, the relative percentage cut from 1/4 pt now is nearly as much as the first 1/2-pointer ... because the rates are already so low.

I think the recent "bad" news on the economy - while backward-looking - will prompt *a* cut ... but 1/2 point would be too extreme, signaling a level of economic fear that has so far been absent. My vote is on the 1/4 point.
