Ofcourse different people have different opinions about what would be good or bad news on this issue.

Although I suppose if the news was "adult stem cells have all the benefits we though fetal stem cells have and more", then just about everyone would think it was good news.

Well, what we'll be getting is Bush's position. Doesn't mean much with the congress split the way it is.

I heard (not from a 100% reliable source) that stem cells can be extracted from umbilical cords. If that is true, I don't get what all this fuss is about.

``I am fairly comfortable with the decision that the president is going to make and I'm very confident that the American people will be as well,'' Health and Human Services Secretary Tommy Thompson said on ABC's ``Good Morning America.''

Thompson, who spoke on television before hearing from Bush Thursday and being advised of his decision, has been pushing the president to let the research go forward.

I wonder. Tommy is a loyalist to the core, I imagine he'd be fairly comfortable pulling the Whitman act if he's rebuffed on the issue. We'll see soon enough.
