Re: . Looks like OEMs greatly overestimated the strength of the back-to-school sales.

Or else Jerry wasn't kidding when he said "any speed, all the same price" and the distributors are responding "$125 for whatever speed I want? Send me 1.4GHZ parts."

There are 9 pages (7 at 266 and 2 at 200 FSB) of 1.4GHZ Athlons on pricewatch and 6 pages of 1.33GHZ parts.

At this point, AMD starts are probably Duron 1GHZ, 1.1GHZ and 1.2GHZ, Athlon 1.3GHZ and 1.4GHZ and Athlon 4 at 1.5GHZ.

Back to school CPUs have been bought by OEMs and distributors, it time to move on the next plateau, and time to move out old Athlons.

Kal Kan - Re: ". Looks like OEMs greatly overestimated the strength of the back-to-school sales."

Uh...I think two distributors are DUMPING a lot of the AthWipers that AMD STUFFED up their wazoos last quarter.

Can you say "AMD Losses Again " ?
