Nope.

Not rattling your cage.

Appreciate your responses.

Too bad you're not in some state legislatures. in Calif, for example, i understand it's illegal to refuse to rent to families with children. Anybody know for sure whether this is correct?

I don't know if he was trying to rattle your cage but if he did I think it had a useful result.

IMO, it's OK for individual apartment owners to refuse to rent to any of the above under most circumstances. It's not OK for apartment owners to conspire to prohibit any of those groups from getting suitable housing.

I can agree with that. It is probably unfair to refuse to rent to someone for being a member of one of the groups in this list but it is my opinion that it should be legal. However conspiring with others to keep other buyers or sellers (or renters) off the market goes beyond freedom of association. I'm still not sure I would call it a rights issue, but it is an issue where I would not oppose the government acting against this restraint of trade esp. because it would be very unfair and have very negative results for some people.
