I agree that is what the NRA preaches,but people who want to commit crime will steal or burglarize homes that are not occupied and there are plenty of signals to indicate which are or are not occupied. If they want to rob you in person they'll do it in ways that will not give you the opportunity to get your gun.....yes, yes, I know, the NRA publishes dozens of stories to the contrary and I'll admit that gun ownership does make a lot of folks feel more secure but it is a misguided notion I think .
