Materially higher...hmmm, not really, but they could try the old gap up once again (it's the only way the markets been able to go up in a LOOOOONG time).

I'm not a strict TA guy - but really enjoy reading this thread. Re mkt direction, this quote feels right to me -

"Bear markets tend to frustrate the directional players, crush the vol traders, and chicken-wing the risk arb types -- so while I don't want to be too negative, we should be realistic. It's gonna be a long, hard road."
