I've never had much patience with arguments which boil down to "the consumer is so stupid they couldn't possibly know about any alternatives unless it is spoon-fed to them". These arguments might have been worth entertaining for a few seconds back when the Internet was something only "computer experts" knew about, but not today.

I don't understand this. Are you suggesting that years ago, the computer experts that used the Net were too stupid to download and install disparate software packages, but now (with every retiree and redneck on the Net) users are MORE sophisticated and LESS dissuaded by the complexity and compatibility issues of downloading and installing software and maintaining the Windows registry?

Interesting argument. I don't know how the District and Appeals Courts could have overlooked this!
