It's not correct to regard the money as simply confiscated with no return or obligation on the part of the government

I am regarding social security as the government so I am not saying that it is confiscating money (except in the sense that any tax is confiscating money) but I am saying that this whole trust fund business is like me taking money from one pocket and putting it in to another. I fear however that I am starting to repeat myself.

As to the governments position to raise the necessary money of SS payments later I am not sure it will be in a great position to do this. I am concerned about the current rate of increase in government spending and the fact that there will be less and less workers to support each retiree.
