NW -- I read the article and ASSUMED they were leading to DELL machines also. Agreed,, It is difficult to have software destroy hardware. It can make a mess of things and cause headaches with hardware but distruction is difficult although not impossible. The virus' out recently generally do not destroy hardware but cause it to not function properly. However-- as you mentioned interfacing hardware can cause problems. Some periferials suggest shutting the PC down before installing to eliminate potential damage. The only thing I ever liked about PALM was selling COMS the day before PALM IPOed. After receiving one I found it so useful I gave it away....
