I used both stop loss methods with great success since I began day trading once again in the summer of 1998. I first developed the technique in the mid eighties when day trading before the 87 correction and later put it to use in a few manic issues leading up the 90 top. You have to keep in mind, the stops are mental until you execute...(this system only works if you are there to watch the trade real time.) NVDA is nothing special compared to some of the manic stocks I have traded...NTAP, TERN (one of my all time favorites), QCOM, AMZN, CIEN, CSCO, INTC, YHOO, SUNW and these are just the tame ones...<g> A few not so tame ones were PLUG, STMP, RFMD, CMGI, EBAY, BRCM and on and on. I had one run over fifty points in an hour or so after I bought just 2k shares, my best single day trade. I had one gap up over night over thirty points after I bought it into the close the day before. I bought a few thousand shares and was wishing I had bought a lot more...<ng> I was trying to pull up the charts, but I can't even remember the names of many ot the companies I have day traded. I suspect many are de-listed already...<g> Hell back in the mania, you could just pull up the hotlist on any given day, pick one of the hot movers and time a two point move with 5k shares and pocket a quick ten grand almost daily. Most of the time I had never heard of the company... Or, I would just follow the Kimberly Lee thread and sell short into her recommendations after the initial pump. It was almost too easy and it did little good to warn the groupies. As a matter of fact lurking the local stock picking gurus on SI was one of the better ways to make money long if you got in for the initial pump and then kept an eye out for the inevitable exhaustion for an almost sure short opportunity. Frankly, I miss the mania...the big boys stopped worrying about leaving tracks and just raped and plundered making it fairly easy to follow them around. They are beginning to go back to the old stealth modes now that the raped and plundered are crying to congress. Regards, LG
