When Kennedy was shot he was about to pull the US out of Viet Nam
You have evidence to back that up?

Because your post greatly mischaracterized events.

saying they gave up and we entered implies a linkage and is simply inaccurate.

We were supporting the French some 4 years before they pulled out, but would not enter the conflict. When the French left we supported South Vietnam in the same way. We did not enter when the french pulled out as your post states. We entered in May of 1961 when JFK sent 400 "Advisors" and added to that force over the next 18 months. (7 years after the French began pulling out).

If you want to look at it as; the US entering by providing support; then your post is still inaccurate, since we were providing support long before they pulled out.

JFK Agonized over Vietnam as anybody would expect. "About to pull out" is a pretty significant leap, which you cannot substantiate. Especially in light of the fact that they kept sending more "advisors" the whole time.
