"Cary is acerbic, opinionated, egotistic, and cynical. I have him bookmarked, because he is also wise."

Jacob,
My criticism of Cary does not mean that I dont agree with the above statement of yours. I believe he is extremely dogmatic in his view of where stocks have to go in this environment. They dont have to do anything. Not everything is quanitifyible?? Is that right? I dont know.
What i do know is that folks should behave better toward each other. There is no need for it to get personal. And yes, once again when you reread Cary's post to John after his explanation, it doesnt seem personal, however it would be nice to read a Cary post where he didnt have to explain away his bad manners. mike

Cary is acerbic, opinionated, egotistic, and cynical. I have him bookmarked, because he is also wise.

He also has a low tolerance for foolishness, yet he also avoids ad-hominem over it. Sometimes it's a little hard to realize it's not the messenger getting shot when the incoming fire arrives.

Over a year ago, I engaged in a little "superficial hand-waving" of my own. I did a linear extrapolation of prior low/high multiples to claim that at 100, AMAT still had another double to go in that cycle.

Cary called me on it. He was right. I think I've evolved beyond blind cheerleading by studying his (dare I say) mentoring. I may not agree with him ... but I respect him. John, beware of "digging the hole you'll die in," because there's a good chance it'll become a grave. He critiqued the article you posted, not you or your opinions. Back off and chill a bit.

Everyone brings value here except the drive-by's. (BTW - expect them with earnings coming up next week.)
