That is all too typical, imo. Morality, like anything else, can get you anywhere you want to go, as long as you have the ability to agilely draw fine distinctions. It looks like hypocrisy, of course. It may even be hypocrisy. But we all decide where we want to go and try to square where we are going and how we got there with what we believe is right (whatever that is).
